I am currently recruiting for a Workshop Manager to join my client who are a leading Logistics company who provide Commercial Vehicle Maintenance and Fleet Management across the UK.
The successful candidate will be reporting to the GM to manage the day to day Workshop activities and to ensure that the relevant and set financial, productivity, stock control and quality performance measures are met.
o To manage all Workshop P&L / KPI's, Direct and Indirect Costs, Productivity & Compliance objectives
o To ensure legislative requirements, Group Health and Safety and Safe Systems of Work are adhered to within the Workshop operation
o Responsible for the recruitment of Workshop team members i.e. Workshop Supervisors, Technicians & Administration
o Undertake departmental/resource planning and delivery against these plans
o Provide the required operational information and to ensure that departmental systems/reports are maintained
o Deal with any disciplinary/grievance matters in line with Company procedures
o Plan and manage resources in-line with set budgets, whilst considering priorities of the customer & Workshop operations
o To communicate effectively across all functions and in particular the Human Resources, Finance and Central Parts functions
o Build rapport, develop trust and respect from both internal and external customers
o Provide daily/weekly operational reports and status updates and review as required
o Ensure the timely investigation and resolution of operational and Health and Safety issues
o Contribute to the management, development and delivery of effective employee relations practices within a unionised environment
o Manage through others by setting targets, objectively measuring performance, providing regular feedback and coaching as required through company PCDR process
o Motivate and develop staff through controlled delegation in order to achieve team goals with a view to career progression and succession planning
o Contribute towards the continuous improvement of processes/methods and operating practices
o Maximise the use of internal suppliers wherever possible, promoting their use with own staff, operators and external customers alike
Skills, Experience & Attributes:
o Confident in dealing with staff and customers at all levels within the operation
o Sound knowledge of H&S fundaments and Compliance
o Able to deliver a high standard of performance maintaining focus on meeting critical timeliness & targets whilst working under pressure
o Able to provide job training, coaching and development for other technicians and apprentices
o Excellent communication skills and the confidence to deal with a varied nature and volume of telephone calls
o Ability to influence and gain the trust of a compact team, whilst providing flexibility, reliability and providing adhoc cover if required
o Sound knowledge of the HGV environment, who will be expected to maintain a level of productivity, through a recognised formal training program
o Computer and IT literate
