Transport Team Leader (Hatfiled)

Job Description

A very well established, logistics business with speciality in the FMCG sector has a great opportunity for Transport Team Leaders to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis at their Hatfield site. You will join a friendly, dynamic business with genuine opportunity for progression with a company who are recognised as a leader in their field. There are two opportunities, one working Fri to Mon 7am to 7pm and the second, 7pm to 7am.

Your duties will cover transport legislation (including tachograph, infringements and divers' hours regulations), operational effectiveness to ensure the business runs as smoothly and as efficiently as possible by achieving optimum service levels whilst working to business critical KPI's. This position is very much hands-on. It is important therefore that that you have a forward thinking, dynamic approach to man-management to ensure that your drivers and admin team is engaged and working as efficiently as possible. You will be expected to conduct performance reviews, appraisals and manage all personnel issues. Your approach will be open, honest, direct and straight forward. A strong character is essential and a certain gravitas will be required. Reliability, flexibility and integrity are values that are held in high esteem.

Through strategic resource planning you will ensure that the department runs with maximum efficiency with a real focus on continuous improvement in service levels working closely with customers to investigate any complaints or non-conformance and putting into place appropriate corrective actions.

Whilst the role can be pressured, the working environment is friendly with very much a supportive team focus. It can be tough, so resilience, resourcefulness and an ability to make decisions will be a prerequisite. You will demonstrate role model behaviours and approach difficult situations in the right manner. A sense of humour will be essential as will a positive, "can-do" attitude.
