A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport Shift Manager to join a hugely successful global supplier of supply chain solutions within the FMCG sector. You will join a busy, fast paced multi-drop transport department in Hertfordshire on a full time permanent basis, working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, 7pm to 7am.
Reporting directly into the senior transport operations manager, the role would suit a highly competent, (ideally CPC qualified) Transport Management professional with real ambition to assist in the continued growth of this diverse business. It is important that you have a thorough understanding of the pressures and demands that this environment brings and can remain calm and diffuse situations professionally and diplomatically.
Your duties will cover legislation relating to commercial vehicles (including tachograph and divers' hours regulations), operational effectiveness to ensure the business runs as smoothly and as efficiently as possible by achieving optimum service levels whilst working to business critical KPI's. This position is very much hands-on. It is important therefore that that you have a forward thinking, dynamic approach to man-management to ensure that your drivers and admin team is engaged and working as efficiently as possible. You will be expected to conduct performance reviews, appraisals and all personnel issues. Your approach will be open, honest, direct and straight forward. A strong character is essential and a certain gravitas will be required. Reliability, flexibility and integrity are values that are held in high esteem.
Whilst the role can be pressured, the working environment is relaxed, friendly with very much a supportive team focus. A sense of humour will be essential as will a positive, "can-do" attitude.
