Transport Planning Manager

Job Description

An immediate opening has arisen for an experienced Transport Planning Manager to join a leading UK warehouse and distribution business in the Derbyshire area on a full time, permanent basis. The business has experienced significant growth over the past two years with new contract wins, greater profitability and the expansion of their warehousing offering. This trend is set to continue and, as a direct result, they are looking for ambitious, dynamic, passionate and driven management professionals to strengthen their team.

It is essential that you have a demonstrable track record of man management, and strong leadership qualities. As the team is relatively new, it is a prerequisite that you can provide the appropriate level of guidance, training, encouragement and support in addition to carrying out all related HR functions when it comes to appraisals, one to one's and performance management.

You will have overall responsibility for ensuring that all planning functions are carried out and achieved in the most cost effective manner possible. Key areas of expertise that you will employ will focus around continuous improvement where you will consistently review operations to reduce operating costs, improve earnings per mile, reduce empty mileage and any other areas which will result positively to operating profit. This really is an opportunity to take a blank canvass and to make the role your own. This will be maximised through fully engaging with your team and taking the lead in creating a positive, can-do working environment where the attitude is "anything is possible".

Experience with any planning related tools would be an advantage, as would CPC, (although not essential). However, an ability to remain calm under pressure, and be able to make decisions will be.

This is a very exciting time to join a business at this stage of their growth and development and would suit an individual with sound planning and man-management skills that is looking to make a mark, and a serious career move for themselves!
