Transport Planning Manager

Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport Planning Manager join a leading UK warehouse and distribution business in the Derbyshire area on a full time, permanent basis. This is an exciting time to join the company which is experiencing significant growth. Key for the client in consolidating their position in the market is to find the right talent that will support and shape their plans for further expansion and development.

The successful candidate will have a background in FMCG, automotive and nationwide distribution. You will lead in the daily planning of company and third party resources, ensuring that all vehicles and drivers get clear precise instruction and are fully utilised. You will also support the team in the delivery of their responsibilities and take a pro-active role in their development as part of the overall succession planning process.

You will manage the control and performance of the transport operation. You will also be responsible for people management and development through direct coaching and performance management. The successful candidate will continuously review of operations to reduce operating costs, improve earnings per mile, driver cost per mile, mpg and all areas which result positively to operating profit.

You will be office based with line management responsibilities and work core hours although some flexibility is expected. This role may require travelling to other sites as and when required.

Experience in FCL, LCL and Palletways would be an advantage, as would experience in using Maxoptra and Sterling Geo planning software.

Salary is c£45k including a car allowance, bonus, pension and health care.
