Transport Operations Manager (FMCG)

Job Description

One of the leading logistics providers has an exciting opportunity for a Transport Operations Manager to cover two customer sites in the Nottinghamshire and Norfolk regions on a full time, permanent basis.

You will lead a team to utilise the company's vehicles efficiently, to provide a cost effective distribution service whilst liaising with customers to ensure all operational requirements are met and defined performance standards and customer satisfaction is maintained to the highest level.

You will ensure the site budget and plan is achieved through effective operational planning involving optimum use of own fleet and contract hauliers, and effective leadership and motivation of the team. You will ensure that the fleet is fully legally compliant, managing servicing program and repairs through agreed partners. You will also ensure all operations are carried out in a safe and compliant manner having particular regard for Health & Safety and Operator's licensing requirements and ensure the timely submission of all required information to central administration functions, and that all records are maintained and up to date.

The successful candidate will possess a good standard of education and have a strong work ethic coupled with the ability to operate effectively within a team environment. You will demonstrate sound commercial acumen and full knowledge of the P&L implications to the business and work with drivers and sub-contraction team to reduce costs.

You will have a proven track record in a FMCG logistics background. An essential requirement for this opportunity is having experience of leading and managing a team whilst delivering change to behaviours and performance.

Possession of a National and International CPC in Road Transport Operations is desirable.

Salary for this opportunity is £35k plus company car allowance and the package comes with excellent benefits. Some weekend work will be required as this role will be part of the senior management team.
