Job Description

A well respected and established supply chain and distribution business has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Transport Manager who is looking to take that next important career step. You will join an expanding, dynamic business in Southampton that will develop and support your career aspirations within logistics.

Reporting directly into the Operations Director, the role would suit a competent and professional Transport Manager with real ambition to assist in the continued growth of this diverse business. It is important that you have a thorough understanding of the pressures and demands that this environment brings with it. CPC will be a huge benefit but ultimately you will be looking for an organisation in which you can make your mark, to develop your career into further senior management.

There will be significant liaison and interaction with your Supervisors and team of drivers, ensuring that the day's schedules are clear and achievable. It is essential that you have clear communication skills, can build rapport with your team, but also manage behaviours appropriately. You will have knowledge of transport legalities and oversee the operational effectiveness to ensure the business runs as smoothly and as efficiently as possible by achieving optimum service levels whilst working to business critical KPI's.

This position is very much hands-on. It is important therefore that that you have a forward thinking, dynamic approach to man-management to ensure that your drivers are engaged and working as efficiently as possible and that the customer service experience in relation to service level agreements are maintained at every opportunity. You will be expected to conduct performance reviews, appraisals and all personnel issues. Your approach will be open, honest, direct and straight forward. A strong character is essential and a certain gravitas will be required. Reliability, flexibility and integrity are values that are held in high esteem.
