An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Logistics & Transport Manager to join a very well established manufacturing and distribution business in the Oxfordshire area. You will join a very friendly, close knit team on a full time, permanent basis that really does value each of its members.
The role would suit a highly competent transport professional with effective man-management and sound routing and planning skills (experience of routing software and telematics will be a huge advantage). This is a highly autonomous role and will provide you with a great variety of responsibilities which will include the management of the transport and warehouse departments (a team of around 12) You will ensure full legal compliance including the monitoring of tachograph information to ensure the team is working within the parameters of the WTD as well as dealing with all infringements . You will control and service the transport fleet and ensure that robust processes are in place to control fleet allocation, efficiency, forecasting, safety and legislative requirements. If you hold a Class 2 Rigid licence it will be an advantage.
Reducing costs and the streamlining of all operations with a real focus on budgets will be a key part to the role and it is essential that you have a very commercial approach at every level. Competency and confidence in this area is critical.
Another important aspect of this role is having a good understanding of the warehousing function in addition to an appreciation of a production/manufacturing environment, understanding how these may impact on the transportation of goods. As a highly service led business that distributes to high end customers, it is important that you have a real focus on the customer to ensure an on-time quality product is delivered every time.
As an individual you will be forward thinking and dynamic and approach your duties with a calm, level head ensuring that any issues are resolved in a diplomatic, professional manner. You may have come from a corporate background previously and now want to join a smaller, growing, friendly business that does not require red tape to gets things actioned!
