Job Description

Barker Ross are currently seeking a full time Care & Support Worker to join one of our Clients services within their Cambridge Mental Health unit.

You will be required to work 37.5 hours a week across a 7 day rota + 1 sleep in per week.

The role:

As a Care & Support Worker you will be responsible for promoting and encouraging the independence of our customers and ensuring their individual requirements are met as agreed within their support plan. You will work with customers on a 1-1 basis in a personalised and targeted support approach. As part of living independent lives, the Care & Support worker will be required to aid and assist customers with general day to day duties, attending appointments and engaging with other community based services. Other duties include (but not limited to) supporting the Manager with the day to day running of the service, supporting customers to maintain their tenancy and increasing their skills.

Essential Criteria:

Experience of providing care and support to vulnerable people (voluntary experience also qualifies).
Understanding of the needs of vulnerable people.
Knowledge of health & safety issues relating to care and support of vulnerable people.
Ability to work using own initiative and as a member of a team.
Ability to work flexibly to meet customer and service requirements across a geographical area.
Availability to work on a rota basis including unsocial hours, weekends and public holidays.
Carry out sleep-ins where appropriate.
Ability to undertake moving and handling tasks (including pushing of wheelchairs).
Level 2/Diploma in Health & Social Care related subject area or equivalent, or a willingness to undertake Diploma training.
