Senior Residential Care Worker

Job Description

MAIN TASKS
To perform the duties of the post having full regard to the Homes Equal Opportunities Policy
Service Users
 Assist the Registered Manager to ensure that policies and procedures relating to the function of the unit and to the service it delivers are established, publicised, maintained and implemented.
 Assist the Registered Manager to ensure that effective standards of personal, social and emotional care for children using the service are maintained at all times.
 Assist the Registered Manager to be responsible for admissions to or discharges from the Unit.
 Assist the Registered Manager to provide and manage an outreach service for young people and their families and to encourage involvement and empowerment.
 To have up to date information about outreach casework as appropriate.
 Assist the Registered Manager to use available resources to provide agreed multi-agency care plans for each young person in accordance with their needs.
 To develop the provision as indicated by reviewing and evaluating regularly.
 Assist the Registered Manager to provide a flexible and proactive service to meet the needs of service users within the resources available and to maximise effectiveness, both in terms of cost and quality.

 Assist the Registered Manager to encourage and involve young people and their families in unit meetings.
 Assist the Registered Manager to ensure that staff work within a theoretical framework to meet the individual needs of young people.
 Assist the Registered Manager to ensure that any complaints made are dealt with in accordance with Cornerstone Children's Homes complaints procedures.
Management
 Assist the Registered Manager to participate in the selection and recruitment of staff.
 Assist the Registered Manager to provide induction for newly appointed staff.
 Assist the Registered Manager to prepare probationary reports in respect of newly appointed staff members.
 Assist the Registered Manager to lead, motivate, supervise, support and monitor a team of staff to set, achieve and maintain a high standard of care.
 Assist the Registered Manager to identify individual training and development needs, undertake staff appraisals and ensure that training and development plans are monitored and met.
 Assist the Registered Manager to organise regular staff meetings and ensure effective communication within the staff team.
 To be responsible for ensuring effective dissemination of information and advice when necessary.
 Assist the Registered Manager to ensure adequate support systems are available to all staff.
 Assist the Registered Manager to implement and manage a workable rota, including cost effective cover for both planned and unplanned absences.
 Assist the Registered Manager to consult with catering staff to ensure a well balanced diet is provided taking into consideration ethnic, religious and medical requirements.
 Assist the Registered Manager to undertake appropriate action in relation to disciplinary/grievances issues in line with Cornerstone Children's Homes policy and procedure.
Administration
 Assist the Registered Manager to maintain appropriate and effective records as required for administration purposes and to ensure that all staff are familiar with procedures.
 Assist the Registered Manager to ensure that the practice of ethical record keeping with regard to accuracy, confidentiality and client access is observed in the compilation of manual and computerised records.
 Assist the Registered Manager to control and manage the unit's budgets by ensuring that the department's requirements are complied with in regard to financial matters by: -
