Senior Group Leader
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Group Leader within the Leicester Plant. The purpose of this role is to lead performance improvements in specific areas within the factory. The successful candidate would become a day to day mentor for the current group leaders, and would drive the main operations efforts, in order to achieve, and where possible improve, on Plant targets for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC).

Description
The successful Senior Group Leader will need to be able to motivate a team, be organized and flexible, have the ability to review and solve problems as well as be an effective communicator at all levels.

Key responsibilities will be to:
* Manage, develop & motivate specified/targeted area of shop floor in order to improve area objectives, goals & targets in relation to SQDC.
* Effectively co-ordinate between Group Leaders & Operations teams across all shifts in order to drive & achieve daily targets & results within SQDC, EHR, DLE & OEE.
* Develop and motivate team, maintaining good industrial relations and ensuring cooperation between all processes and departments.
* Cover for Group Leader roles during periods of absence.
* Ensure Group Leaders and assigned teams understand their H&S and environmental responsibilities and that they are practiced, in order to minimise accidents and avoid breaches of legislation (SHE).
* Maximise the quality of the product by conducting necessary checks & inspections within area of control.
* Management of labour, equipment and materials to optimise production output and achievement of business requirements within area of responsibility.
* To identify personnel development / training to provide skills coverage, flexibility & reliability of defined area.
* Provide positive, timely response to queries and requests for assistance or information, to satisfy customer's needs. Remain focused on 100% on time delivery.
* Management of labour, equipment and materials to optimise production output and achievement of business requirements within area of responsibility.
* To identify personnel development / training to provide skills coverage, flexibility & reliability of defined area.
* To support continuous improvement activities and projects within underperforming area of responsibility.
* Develop and coach team members knowledge & understanding of CI to enhance customer satisfaction and improve business unit performance.

Your Profile:
To be successful in this position you will need to be a self-motivated and tenacious individual with a dynamic personality, and an excellent communicator. A problem-solving mindset and logical thinker with a professional manner would be perfect for this role. Flexibility and great leadership skills are also important qualities for the successful Senior Group Leader.

Key Attributes:
* L3 apprenticeship or equivalent in an Operations or Engineering discipline
* Minimum ILM level 3 or equivalent
* IOSH preferable
* Previous production supervisory experience 2+ years
* Previous experience of working in a unionised manufacturing environment would be advantageous
* Microsoft office - good level of Excel & Word competency
* Strong people management (union environment preferable)
* Understanding of production processes including capacity planning, resource planning, product flow, Kanban, safety, quality, data analysis & analytical reporting.
* General understanding of the implications of SQDC to the business performance & of the customer / supplier relationship.
