Our client provides therapeutic support for clients with a history of gambling addiction. This is a residential service with the aim of supporting clients on the road to recovery and independent living.
Position Available: Residential Support Worker - Addiction, Beckenham, £12per hour, 35 hours per week, 1-3 months
We are looking to recruit temporary staff for a charity that provides support to individuals with gambling addictions. The role we are looking to recruit is for a Residential Support Worker. You will work as part of a team providing effective support to the established Residential Rehabilitation Programme. This is to be delivered in a way that empowers clients to overcome their addiction to gambling and move forward with their recovery.
The hours would be 35 hours per week - Monday to Friday day-time with occasional Saturdays on a rota basis.
Experience of working in a structured health and social care environment preferably a hostel or residential service.
Experience supporting clients in recovery from any kind of addiction, such as substance misuse, homelessness, gambling etc
Organisation skills, including support planning with vulnerable groups
Excellent communication skills, to include both written and verbal reporting
Understanding of risk, incident and safeguarding processes
Negotiation, advocacy, advice and signposting skills
Ability to establish working relationships with partner agencies
Ability to handle crisis situations and work flexibly to meet needs
Ability to work independently, as part of a team and as part of a wider organisation
Ability to evidence a commitment to our values
Knowledge and experience of the benefits system and working with benefits agencies
Training in therapeutic approaches (e.g. Motivational Interviewing, CBT
Experience of facilitating group-work with vulnerable groups
