Fleet Operations Manager

Job Description

One of the leading specialists in intermodal freight has an exceptional opportunity for a highly experienced, competent and professional Fleet Operations Manager to join their dynamic and expanding team in the Staffordshire region. This is a pivotal role for the business as you will assume fleet management responsibility for in excess of 350 trucks and 1,000 trailers.

This is a very challenging role, with a great depth and variety of duties. It is not for the faint hearted, but it will provide you with a fantastic career, daily challenges and great career opportunities. You will be accountable for the maintenance, repair and compliance for the road fleet, which will also include cost and OCRS performance with P&L responsibilities of £1.5M. You will also have overall responsibility for the training academy and the training team as well as the on-site workshop, inclusive of MOT lanes.

Ultimately you will ensure that the vehicle fleet is managed and maintained in such a manner as to support operations in the most efficient way possible. You will be given total autonomy to manage this. Your duties will focus around maintaining service level agreements and taking preventative measures to keep the fleet in the best possible order whilst ensuring compliance with all current legislation and best practice. You will fully support customers, drive operational processes for excellence, and actively support and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

It is essential that you possess CPC, and have a thorough understanding of tachograph, working time and driver hours legislation and possess strong management skills as well as sound analytical skills and be capable of both rationalising and developing the supply chain.

As an individual you will constantly be looking at ways of driving best practice with a key focus on continuous improvement (commercial, operational, service levels), and have a confident, yet professional approach. Of course excellent communication and rapport building skills and a pro-active personable approach to tasks will be highly valued.
