Position Available: Deputy Manager - Homelessness and Complex needs, Redbridge, 3 months, 37.5 hours, £15.56
In conjunction with the Service Manager, to lead the team in delivering a high quality individualised assessment and support service to people with a range of complex and enduring needs, particularly in relation to mental ill-health, substance misuse, offending, street activity, and antisocial behaviour.
Working within a strengths and recovery framework, to ensure client needs and aspirations are at the centre of the support planning process and that all aspects of the service are delivered to the highest standard, are fully compliant with organisational values, contractual requirements, policy and procedure, and reflect current good practice.
To be responsible for the deployment and support of staff, volunteers and peer mentors in providing added value to the service offer through delivery of Recovery programmes and meaningful activity.
To deputise for the Service Manager as directed.
- Experience of, or a strong awareness and understanding of staff and service management.
- Experience and an in-depth understanding of the principles and delivery of risk and needs assessment, planned support, goal setting and advocacy with vulnerable people within a Recovery and Strengths Model, and the ability to share this and support others to deliver this.
- Experience of managing complex and difficult situations in relation to the provision of service to people presenting with a varied range of needs, including substance use, mental health, dual-diagnosis, personality disorders, physical disability, learning difficulties, and a wide range of other support needs, the agencies that work with them, and the range of approaches suitable for working with them
- An understanding of the principles underlying a quality service which is customer focused with the ability to develop the skills of both staff and service users, and to motivate and manage a quality service committed to achieving excellence
- A high level understanding of the range of issues involved in the delivery of quality services to a chaotic and slow to change client group with complex and enduring needs around poly substance use and an ability to provide flexible and client centred solutions to problems of behaviour. In particular a high level of knowledge of the following:
- The Cycle of change
- Strengths and Recovery model
- Harm Minimisation
- Action Planning and Smart Goal setting
- Group work
- Intervention and engagement strategies
- Understanding of Housing Management in relation to License Agreements and Tenancies
- A demonstrably high level of numeracy, literacy and comprehension in order to be able to contribute to budget setting, monitor expenditure, write reports and review, analyse and extrapolate from written information.
- Ability to co-ordinate the work of a number of individuals or agencies to get tasks completed to time and to specification.
- Strong networking skills, and proven ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to establish or improve services to service users.
- Ability to be self motivating, work under pressure, and manage time effectively, prioritising different areas of work according to need
