Day shift Cleaning Supervisor

Job Description

Purpose of Role

To manage night cleaning service in the Sports Village to a high standard as directed by the Cleaning and Conferencing Manager in accordance with the cleaning specification


*To constantly check standards of cleaning throughout the shift in all areas and report any maintenance requirements, damage or health and safety issues

*To attend monthly meetings and joint audits with the client

*Be proactive and identify areas of improvement and rectify cleaning defects

*Maintain adequate stock control

*Perform monthly tool box talks and undertake regular 1-1 staff meetings

*Rearrange tasks to cover absences

*Accurately maintain the communications book on a daily basis

*Cleaning, sweeping and vacuum cleaning, emptying bins, washing and , dusting and polishing surfaces including walls, floors and tables

*Scrubbing and deep cleaning floors using powered equipment, cleaning toilet areas to include replenishment of toilet rolls, soap and hand towels

*To organise and undertake deep cleans, which includes all of the above, plus shampooing carpets and other deep cleaning tasks

*Ensure any service delivery shortfalls are rectified before the start of the next working day

*To operate and train staff in the use of cleaning machinery in accordance with instructions

*To ensure all staff understand the correct use of cleaning materials and are instructed in the safe use of all substances and manage to COSHH regulations

*To ensure the correct collection, storage and removal of waste/rubbish from work area to collection

*To ensure staff are adhering to the colour coding directives and are regularly changing mop heads, cloths and other equipment

*To complete any cleaning audit paperwork as directed by line manager

*To promote staff motivation and proactive working ethos with all staff members

*Effective management of the performance of staff, monitoring progress against individual objectives and providing guidance and direction to staff where needed

*To deal promptly with any concerns with performance, conduct and sickness following the appropriate policies and procedures

*To observe and comply with the Health and Safety Policy and Code of Practise for cleaning staff

*To comply with instructions relating to security and confidentiality

*To ensure that you conduct yourself in a professional and smart manner at all times and wear any uniform and PPE as provided

*To ensure all staff are wearing standard uniform and PPE as provided and are conducting themselves in a professional manner

*To constantly strive to increase performance levels and customer satisfaction whilst managing costs

Person specification

Experience in supervising a team

Resilience under pressure

Experience with cleaning methods and equipment including deep cleaning machinery

Knowledge of the use of chemicals ( COSHH) and Health and Safety legiislation

BICSc qualified
