Job Description

Our Client is a charity providing care, accommodation and support services for more than 18,000 older people throughout Britain. Our mission is to improve the quality of life of older people.

As a cook / chef You will be responsible for delivering a high quality catering service, planning menus with residents which are varied and interesting to meet individual tastes and dietary requirements.
You will manage our dedicated catering team, ensuring the highest standards of nutrition, hygiene and safety.
An experienced caterer is required, with good planning, budget and stock control abilities.
Excellent people skills are required to maintain positive relationships with residents and members of staff.

To meet the nutritional and dietary needs of residents, which respects the choice of the individual and promotes health and well being
Be responsible for managing the efficiency, hygiene and safety in the catering area and to organise and supervise the work of other staff working in the kitchen.
To maintain the correct HACCP principals in all catering areas and ensure all legislative standards are met.
To help maintain in the home the atmosphere and practice of care based on the Values of Methodist Homes deriving from a concern for the individual and mutual respect between residents and staff.
Able to commute in and around Leicestershire area for training purposes.

As a cook / chef you will have Previous experience cooking in a
Care environment or restaurant/pub.
Experience in dealing with suppliers.
Experience in leading and managing a team.
Qualifications to apply for this role would be either City and Guilds 1 or 2 or an NVQ level 2 in catering.
Have to the ability to be sensitive towards the older residents in the home and Understanding of Hygiene and safety principals and their role in Catering.
Able to commute in and around leicestershire.

This cook / chef is a full time permanent position of 40 hours a week, working 4 shifts a week on a 7 day rota 7.30am - 6.30pm in a residential home in Leicestershire.
