One of the UK's largest restaurant groups has an exciting opportunity for a Category Buyer in the London area on a full time, permanent basis.
Reporting to the Head of Food Spend, you will deliver an effective strategy throughout the Group that champions the drive for reduced costs aligned with improved business practices in partnership with key suppliers whilst ensuring company strategic and operational objectives are met.
You will take on buying responsibilities for a selection of food categories and be responsible for managing food inflation, through negotiation and new sourcing opportunities. You will deliver the successful negotiation and completion of contracts suitable for each category with clear KPI's identified to drive and deliver business and cost efficiencies across the Group.
The successful candidate will deliver compliance of contract terms through engagement and commitment of stakeholders and the senior management team, being involved in the new menu development process. It is essential that you possess excellent interpersonal skills and can easily build rapport across any audience. You will be a keen problem solver so must possess analytical qualities.
You will manage multiple projects (short, medium and long term planning) and be responsible for revenue and food cost budgeting.
Requirements for the Role:
- In-depth knowledge of protein or produce purchasing.
- Preferably CIPS qualified.
- Food purchasing experience, various categories, preferably within foodservice/wholesale environment.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Proven track record of strategic purchasing / category management.
- Flexible, willing to learn and able to work within a fast moving and demanding environment the jobholder will need excellent organisational and communication skills as they will be communicating, influencing and reporting to all parts of our businesses, including company Directors.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Graduate Calibre.
Salary for this opportunity is £50k plus car allowance, private health care, bonus and pension.
You will generally work between core hours though will need to offer flexibility at the needs of the business.
