A well respected transport and logistics specialist has an exciting opportunity for a Transport Manager to join their team in Tilbury.
You will have at least 5 years experience of working as a Transport Manager within a large, fast-paced transport environment managing your own transport team and varied truck fleet (owned and rented).
Ideally you will have knowledge of groupage, road freight and multi-drop and the ability to coordinate and manage the traffic planning teams over varied shifts. A high level of experience in manually planning routes based on freight volumes and geographical positions and when necessary conducting remedial planning to make live changes as required.
You will maximize vehicles on a daily basis, which are running 24/7 between day and night contracts, taking into account the constantly changing nature of the operation. Working closely alongside the site management team to ensure operational efficiency and the achievement of SLA and KPI targets
Experience of liaising with external suppliers to ensure the effective use of hire vehicles, subcontractors and additional resources.
A very good knowledge of Export, Import and Warehouse operations is Important and understanding the need to work very closely with all teams to produce the results required.
The successful candidate must hold a National/International CPC and have up to date knowledge of regulations as you will be responsible for ensuring the legal compliance of the Core Fleet Transport operation at all times, as well as ensuring the fleet is maintained and serviced in accordance with DVSA and company policies within budget of which a strong commercial acumen is essential.
You will come with fresh ideas on how a Transport Operation should effectively run and be a keen advocate of continuous improvement as well as being a concise and dedicated leader. Naturally, Health and Safety will play a key part of the Transport Managers role and you will be responsible for managing compliance including processes and procedures, promoting Health and Safety, leading the team to treat Health and Safety as a priority within the operation.
IT System knowledge using in house freight system SGA NET as well as TRANSICS tracking system, GSN tracking system and standard programs such as Outlook, Skype, Word, Excel would be an advantage.
You will work Monday to Friday - 9am - 6pm. Salary for this opportunity is between £40-50k depending on experience.
