A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport Controller to join a hugely successful specialist electrical component distribution business on a full time basis at their state of the art facility in Milton Keynes. The company is experiencing rapid growth, has a global presence and is a leader in their field. They are keen to hear from individuals with experience in the transport sector who are ambitious, pro-active and gain satisfaction from wanting to make the role very much their own.
Key to your success as Transport Controller will be your ability to ensure that all deliveries and collections with the company fleet and sub-contracted carriers meet agreed deadlines as efficiently and economically as possible as well as resolve any issues relating to missing, damaged or lost freight in a professional and timely manner. Experience of routing/planning will be an advantage.
Equally important is your ability to engage with all internal and external customers in a friendly and professional manner to ensure a lasting, positive impression of the delivery service and this will include clear communication with drivers on a regular basis and members of the admin team. From an administrative perspective, you will complete shipping manifests, despatch labels, transport records and end of day reports and monitor invoices from 3rd party carriers checking for accuracy or discrepancies.
As an individual, attention to detail with exceptional organisational and communication skills will be essential. You will be pro-active, use initiative and enjoy a busy and varied role which can at times, be a pressured environment to meet critical deadlines. You will be analytical and demonstrate strong computer skills as you will be required to produce KPI data when required. As Transport Controller, experience within the transport sector, to really excel in this role will be required.
Proficient Microsoft Excel skills is essential. Route planning or despatching of HGV's is required.
Salary for this opportunity is £28k plus company benefits.
Working hours for this role are Monday to Friday 11am to 7.30pm.
