Team Leader / Supervisor
I am currently recruiting for an experienced Team Leader / Supervisor who is looking to join a global organisation. My client are a leading powder metals supplier.
About the role:
My client are looking for candidates with knowledge and experience in the following areas: VIM operations, secondary steelmaking / liquid steel processing, powder metallurgy, metal powder processing/handling, metal atomisation to join their exciting and growing team.
As Team Leader you will be the point of contact and the person responsible for your designated area of operation and the supervision of your team suing Daily Management Principles. You will also be a hands-on member of the team.
You will report directly into the Manufacturing & Engineering Manager.
Initially the role will be a day role, but the intention is that this will quickly move to 2 and then 3 shifts as the business grows.
In this role you will be responsible for:
Operation of vacuum induction melting atomiser, and associated paperwork and Quality Assurance practices
Operation of sieving and packaging equipment under inert atmospheres
Despatch of powders, including associated material identification, traceability and Quality Assurances procedures
Receipt, verification and preparation of scraps and alloys for vacuum induction melting
Preparation and loading of charge materials to the VIM Furnace
Taking and analysing of samples from the VIM furnace
Operation and maintenance of testing and analysis equipment in quality control environment
Furnace turnaround and down-day cleaning and maintenance activities
Preparation of launder/tundishes and associated refractory works
Some aspects of first line maintenance will also be performed as part of the team-working philosophy
Ensuring that Team Members are involved in the identification of hazards, risk assessment and the development and review of safe systems of work.
In conjunction with the Manufacturing Manager, identifying and organise on the job training to the requirements agreed and defined within the Team skills matrices.
In conjunction with Manufacturing Manager arranging manning to agreed levels within area of responsibility.
Monitoring adherence to key process parameters and controls and identify any deviation from these.
Identifying root cause of any 'out of control' process conditions and subsequent corrective actions to regain control and prevent recurrence.
Identifying improvement activities to achieve AP Targets / KPI's.
The right candidate will have:
A consistently high standard of workmanship and the ability to adhere strictly to quality procedures.
A detailed understanding of the relevant business standards and deliver advice and training to personnel.
Powder metal atomisation and NSAM processes knowledge would be an advantage.
Electrical Engineering qualifications would be an advantage.
Analytical Laboratory experience would be an advantage.
Hold or prepared to be trained to IOSH standards.
