Senior Planner

Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Planner at for a food manufacturer based in Tilmanstone, Kent.

The Senior Planner is required to support the Supply Chain Manager to deliver the business plan & Supply Chain Strategy. Lead & promote consistent working across planning teams. Develop & embed planning rules with operations team. Manage internal and external supply communications. Lead and develop the site S&OP process

Responsibilities of the Senior Planner:

  • Establish best practices across teams / shifts, reviewing ways of working to deliver an efficient plan that maximises labour efficiency and minimises waste
  • Ensure realistic, achievable, accurate information is supplied to internal and external suppliers & customers i.e. operations, commercial teams, retail customers
  • Keep planning manual & training matrix updated with all current processes & procedures
  • Control WIP & FG stocks to minimise OOD material
  • Report and analyse KPI's to work with the Planning & Replenishment Team to create a continuous improvement ethos.
  • Establish meeting schedule to keep ops & planning up to date with daily current reality. React to situation, elevate as necessary
  • Cultivate customers contact at appropriate level to foster good working relationships with customer supply teams
  • Manage the planning team, ensuring team development and succession planning into the team
  • Work with Operation's and the Logistics Team to analyse customers overs & shortages, recommending improvement plans to improve service
  • Develop & maintain forecast tools to establish key requirements around labour forecasting and peak planning (Summer, Christmas etc.)

Required experience & education of the Senior Planner:

  • Ability to lead and motivate the team
  • Has worked in a Planning environment with Supervisory experience
  • A good understanding of the planning, procurement, & supply chain
  • Ability to communicate and influence at all business levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good analytical and numerical capability
  • Excellent IT Skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong decision-making skills

Hours of work are Monday - Friday 8.30am - 5.00pm (however, the Senior Planner will need to be contactable out of hours)

Salary for this role starts from £35,000 - £45,000 depending on experience
