Resident Support Worker - Rough Sleepers / Homelessness

Job Description

Our client supports rough sleepers and clients with a history of homelessness. They provide various types of housing and support to vulnerable people.

Position Available: Resident Support Worker - Rough Sleepers / Homelessness (Kingston ), 3-6 month fixed term contract - with possibility of extension until March 2022, 36hrs per week, Monday-Friday Hours, £27,701pa

Job Purpose

We are looking for an enthusiastic, confident person to join our Resident Support Team. The Resident Support Worker will provide high quality support, delivered in a strength based, person centred way. You will help individuals to identify their goals, interests and ambitions. You will complete and regularly review support plans with each person on your case load, focussing on what KCAH can do to help them achieve their goals.

Reporting to the Resident Support Coordinator, you will need to be efficient, well organised, flexible and able to respond quickly to unexpected developments. Previous experience of working in this area will be advantageous but is not essential.

Experience Needed:

Experience of working or volunteering with vulnerable people and those who have experienced homelessness/rough sleeping

  • An understanding of the causes of homelessness and the pathways out of homelessness
  • Understanding of the support needs of people with low incomes including welfare benefits, rent payments and arrears
  • An understanding of mental health and addiction issues
  • Ability to deal appropriately with challenging behaviour
  • Strong organisational and time management skills * Proven ability to "think outside of the box" by researching and exploring creative solutions
  • Excellent networking, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to produce high quality written work, including writing reports and letters to external professionals
  • An understanding of and commitment to confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • Enthusiasm for a high level of contact with people who have experienced homelessness on daily basis while maintaining a non judgemental approach
