Rent and Income Officer - Kings Cross

Job Description

Our client is one of the largest providers of supported accommodation services for various clients such as young people, clients with a history of homelessness, mental health or substance misuse issues. They aim to help vulnerable people find opportunities to change their lives and futures.

Position Available: Rent and Income Officer - Kings Cross, 2-3 months ongoing, 37.5hrs, £13.25 per hour

Role Purpose:

Working as part of the Housing Services team, to support the implementation of the organisations Central Rent Collection policy

Working alongside the Neighbourhood Housing Officer, Maintenance Officer and local supported housing service staff delivering high quality intensive tenancy management services to tenants living in SHP's accommodation.

Ensuring the effective collection of rent and charges, in line with the new central process, and utilising new recording systems

Supporting the annual rent and service charge setting process

Providing high quality advice and guidance to clients and support staff around the re-payment of arrears

Taking cases to court where other options have been exhausted

Experience Required:

  1. The ability to understand and operate within the legal and regulatory framework in which tenancies are managed.
  2. Understanding of different approaches to maximising rental income collection and managing rent arrears across multiple tenures and locations.
  3. Experience of managing complex and difficult situations, achieving resolution and customer satisfaction in relation to welfare benefits and rent arrears.
  4. Good team working skills, the ability to collaborate effectively on shared tasks and provide advice and guidance to others.
  5. An understanding of the issues faced by vulnerable people experiencing homelessness.
  6. Numerate, with the ability to undertake complex rent account reconciliations accurately.
  7. IT literate, with the ability to competently use Pyramid, Inform, Microsoft word, excel, and outlook packages.
