Quality Assurance Technician

Job Description

My Client is a leading provider in Packaging Solutions and seeks two Quality Assurance Technicians to support the Quality Supervisor in order to perform routine QA Checks on samples produced by operators in specific production areas.

The Principle duties will include:

  • The positive release of finished pallets for "intensive care customers" which includes design checks, reel quality, winding direction, sample checks and any other checks as asked by the Management Team.
  • Inform operators and / or Team Leaders / Shift Managers of any noticed quality discrepancies and raise Suspect Production Forms when the faults cannot be rectified while running.
  • To ensure that the recording of waste within the slitting department is accurate and procedures followed correctly.
  • To maintain the QA Check Sheet system, which includes (this is not exhaustive and will be detailed by Shift Management):
    • Regular routine checks on sample boards and quality paperwork.
    • Rectifying any issues with the paperwork as and when it is found directly with the operator.
  • To carry out Quality checks on all samples provided by the Slitting department.
  • To carry out regular checks on the correct use of EyeC Camera technology, have a good understanding of the process; assist with PDF uploading problems, the ability to run reports as and when required.
  • Print off daily sheets in accordance with the manufacturing programme for each machine. Update as and when the programme changes.
  • Archive the completed QA Check Sheets and QA Samples and retrieve when required.
  • Ensure the correct samples are generated by Operators for specific customers.
  • To fill in Customer Return Forms when products come back from customers.
  • Root cause analysis of customer returns, suspect forms raised and any non-conformance's, root causes identified and fed back to Management and Operators with possible solutions.
  • To complete specific, routine technical testing and to update records accordingly. This will include instrument calibration, migration check sampling and other such tests as prescribed.
  • Maintain QA Test Equipment.
  • To assist in Customer and Supplier Audits.
  • To assist the Management team in the continuous improvement program, including:
    • Factory processes and procedures
    • Driving and maintaining high standards of 5s and workplace organisation within the slitting department.
  • Quality improvement projects to drive down quality complaints both internal and external.
  • Waste reduction.
  • If needed prepare, post, distribute and file Colour Standards and Outturn Samples as required ensuring print quality is of a high standard. Maintain database of requirements.
  • Maintain the Glass Register.
  • Maintain the Knife / Blade issue system.

Shift patterns are 40 hours per week, rotating 3 shift patterns including

6-2, 2-10 & 10 -6 (Nights)

Overtime when available is paid at 1 & 1/2 of hourly rate.
