Our client is a highly successful food manufacturing company in Leicester.
Due to an internal promotion they are now looking to recruit a permanent Production Manager working a Day shift 6.00 a.m. - 6.00 p.m. 4 on 4 off rotating pattern.
The Production Manager will have the following responsibilities:
Overall responsibility for Health and Safety on the shop floor.
Production planning and scheduling.
Management of the production process to ensure that output is both efficient and effective.
Overall responsibility for the safety of the product and for carrying out Critical Control Point check procedures (CCP metal detection and CCP scarification) or ensuring that such procedures are carried out by competent personnel in accordance with relevant procedures including OPRP sieving, OPRP traceability, PRP cleaning, OPRP baking and PRP allergens.
Overall responsibility for the adherence to the traceability system.
General allergen awareness and ability to avoid any potential cross-contamination.
Responsible for ensuring site security procedures are followed at all times.
Responsible for the recruitment, induction, training and development of the Production Team.
Management of the Production team to ensure all staff, including agency workers, are fully trained and competent to fulfil operational needs and are fully aware of Company Health and Safety, Food Safety, Quality and Hygiene policies and procedures.
Establish and maintain effective two-way communication to ensure employees feel involved, informed and valued to build loyalty, commitment and higher levels of performance.
Responsible for prompt investigation of any accidents or incidents on shift, including food safety related matters, ensuring timely and accurate completion of paperwork.
Ensure any corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.

The successful Production Manager should have recent production / shift manager experience from within the food manufacturing sector and have the following skills:
Ability to work on own initiative
Ability to plan, organise, motivate and develop a strong team
Computer literate (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access)
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to set objectives for the shift teams
Excellent people skills
Proactive and flexible approach
Technically able in terms of plant, process and product
Proven man-management and leadership skills
Drive for continuous improvement
Salary for the Production Manager role is £30,770 (£29,770 + £1,000 bonus).
