Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Operations Manager to join a world-class 3PL and distribution business on a full-time, permanent basis in Northants. This is a truly exciting time to join the company, recognised as one of the top 10 global logistics providers, as they continue to successfully expand their portfolio of clients.

Reporting directly into the Senior Contracts Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the management and smooth operational performance in respect of achievement of critical KPI's for a number of key customer clients that operate from this multi-user site. This will be realised through resource and planning skills and effective man-management. You will work closely with a team of office and warehousing staff and it is essential that you can fully engage, motivate and direct your team as your success will be measured by delivery against these KPI's and customer satisfaction.

This is a high pressure, fast moving operation and would suit an ambitious, forward thinking and dynamic manager who has a real focus on the customer. H&S will be a key area of your responsibilities and a real drive and hunger to fulfil to your customer's expectations will be at the forefront of everything you do. As a pro-active natural leader, you will possess excellent communication skills, have a positive, can-do attitude and enjoy finding resolution to issues that you identify as impacting on achieving business goals and objectives. Experience of Continuous Improvement (Lean/Six Sigma) will be highly advantageous as will experience of WMS and process implementation and improvements.

In essence you will need a demonstrable track record of performance and success in the following areas:

  • Strong desire in wanting to make a positive impact and contribution.
  • Highly cost driven with a focus on continuous improvement in all areas.
  • Highly tuned planning capabilities regarding volume handling, storage and stock integrity.
  • Confident in your own abilities with fantastic presentation skills (also highly competent with Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Calm, controlled (and engaging) leadership style with an ability to manage
  • Global/international experience is a significant advantage.
  • Budgeting capabilities.
