We are recruiting for an experienced Operations Manager to join one of the region's leading manufacturers. The main part of the role is to direct manufacturing operations and supply chain activity across the site, within the agreed costs and production parameters of the annual budget and operation plan to ensure that the end products meet customer requirements in terms of quality and delivery and maximise the profitability of the works.
£80,000 to £90,000 per annum salary depending upon experience

Member of the senior leadership team, supporting strategy development and implementation focused on production and supply chain performance goals and long-term operational plans.
Maximize efficiency and productivity through extensive process analysis and interdepartmental collaboration.
Set strategic goals for operational efficiency and increased productivity.
Analyze current operational processes and performance, recommending solutions for improvement when necessary.
Mentoring and guiding the Plant Managers and their leadership teams in developing a comprehensive and documented set of Walk the Floor routines aimed at controlling and improving the performance of Health, Safety, and Environment, Quality, Cost and Delivery in line with required targets and standards.
To lead by example in promoting and setting a high standard of Health and Safety awareness and compliance. Setting and driving targets to reduce accident and first aid cases.
To manage, control and co-ordinate the processing activities of the works to ensure better internal and external customer satisfaction in terms of product quality and delivery on time. Monitor and introduce actions to reduce quality escapes and improve right first time.
Introduce and maintain cost control measures to improve lead times and align operational activities to the Quality Improvement plan.
To determine the levels of manning required to consistently achieve production and cost standard and to ensure that resources are of adequate standard and are effectively deployed.
To ensure that operational teams are adequately trained to meet the requirements and responsibilities of their individual appointments and to observe company policies and procedures for their regular appraisal and further development.
To improve the industrial relations environment including the maintenance of satisfactory disciplinary standards, thereby increasing product quality, productivity and employee satisfaction.
To foster collaborative partnership level relationships with both local and external trade union representatives; lead regular company / union meetings as well as effective dispute free pay negotiations.
Our ideal candidate
A university degree or equivalent.
A thorough and wide-ranging knowledge of the production processes and methods
Demonstrable experience in managing a diverse Operations team
Experience with budget and business plan development
Intimate knowledge of Health & safety management systems.
The ability to carry out and prioritise operational analyses.
Can evidence collaborative relationships with trade unions
Highly developed leadership and influencing skills, capable of being used with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
Exceptional interpersonal, analytical and project management skills coupled with the creative ability to identify avenues of new opportunity for future growth and business expansion.
