NPD Process Technologist

Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an NPD Development Process Technologist at for a food manufacturer based in Leicestershire.

The Development Process Technologist is responsible for developing new products, implement and execute the NPD process, support the factory in Process related tasks actively working with the brand, Own Label, Co Manufactures and internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • To identify opportunities for development of new products and processes that will contribute to the overall profitability of the business.
  • Management of pipeline from concept approval to launch.
  • Lead NPD process improvement reviews to improve quality and profitability
  • To work closely with the purchasing departments on raw materials new and current products for cost saving projects and product / process quality improvement requirements
  • Implementation, management and maintenance of the internal product development process
  • Execute NPD launches, working with Operations, Finance, Sales and Marketing colleagues to deliver projects on time, on budget costs
  • Co-ordinate NPD Communication to the business for the Leicester site
  • Create product paperwork to ensure all information regarding product development is available when necessary
  • Create Production paperwork for launch
  • Work with other members of the NPD and Technical Team on approving customer's specifications and artwork.
  • Manage internal projects through the NPD process & Project Manager
  • Submit best in class product samples to all our retail, co-manufactures and brand customers and for consumer panels
  • Liaise with both the customers and suppliers to ensure new products meet the NPD brief
  • Constantly work with suppliers to push them for latest new techniques, flavours, products etc.
  • Work closely with the engineering and operation departments on current and new equipment required for NPD
  • Work with Operations to ensure the introduction of NPD has full process capability study completed
  • To introduce new products or implement changes to existing products into the business.
  • Prepare for pre productions and the launch of new product.
  • Attend first production run of products, as and when necessary, to ensure compliance/validation of the specification/process.
  • Organisation of the smooth running of production trials
  • Sampling of products to establish all necessary technical data from trial products is achieved
  • To produce specifications with all data and process instructions for the operations teams.
  • To complete post launch tasks and evaluations as required.
  • Organisation of sample requests from trial work

Qualifications

  • Degree level or equivalent in a Food Science. Technology or Food Engineering

Knowledge

  • Extensive food development experience in a Process Development role
  • Understanding of NPD process in a food manufacturing environment

Hours of work are Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 5.30pm with one hours lunch, there will be some flexibility required around launch & promotional days and new product development.

Salary for this role starts from £35,000. Benefits include death in service, company pension scheme, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and critical illness cover as well as a discretionary non contractual bonus.
