Night Container Transport Planner

Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Night Container Transport Planner to join an established and award winning provider of international logistics and freight services at their site at Witham, Essex.

The Night Container Transport Planner will plan and oversee the entire operational and administrative process of the container transport operation at night container.

In this role, you will act as the first point of the assigned night drivers, resolving any issue that arise. You will secure the required Port bookings (VBS) and merchant releases to facilitate each container release, uplift from the Port and return to the shipping line.

The Night Container Transport Planner will plan and organise the location and positioning of containers ready for unload and empty return to the Port, whilst communicating and coordinating with the warehouse regarding arrivals and empty container departures.

The position will also require strong administration skills and you will print and provide labels to the warehouse for stock transfers and final pallet deliveries. You will also oversee and potentially organise the final full and part load deliveries from the Warehouse (backloads), as well as provide Transport Delivery Notes and Container Unload Manifests to Transport/Warehouse.

Experience and Skills required:

  • Experience of working within transport or logistics for more than 2 years.
  • Experience of container transport planning/operations for at least one year and three years' in road transport is desirable.
  • Use of range of Office software, including email, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Ability to calmly and effectively deal with difficult situations.
  • A "can do" positive attitude.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Good listener.
  • Effective team worker.
  • Flexible to hours of work

Working hours for this position are Monday to Friday evening, hours to be in agreed in line with needs of the business.

Salary for this opportunity is £34k plus company benefits, including 30 days annual holiday, including Bank Holidays, Contributory Pension Scheme, Employee Assistance programme etc.
