Navigator - Rough Sleepers / Homelessness (Havering)

Job Description

Our client is one of the largest charities in London that support homelessness and vulnerable people. They have multiple service for clients such as young people, clients with a history of homelessness, mental health or substance misuse issues.

Position Available: Navigator - Rough Sleepers / Homelessness (Havering), £13.62 ph, 3-4 months, 37.5 hours per week

Role Purpose

Navigators will provide intensive support to individuals with a history of rough sleeping and complex needs, enabling them to access appropriate services and reducing the risk of repeat homelessness and support the individual in rebuilding their life away from the street.

The role will work in multi-agency settings in Havering, working in partnership with existing delivery structures, local networks and developing collective practises. The Navigators will work flexibly to the needs and patterns of the cohort which will entail conducting home visit and working from identified office spaces

The Navigator will carry a case-load of up to 8-12 of former identified rough sleepers, who have been housed via the Cranbrook hotel into a variety of accommodation settings within the borough of Havering

They will link clients in with local support services and key agencies relevant to their circumstances to create a tailored support network.

Individual support planning will include identifying a range of activities with clients to increase social interaction and developing a client's ability to live independently. The service will be delivered in a highly person centred and personalised way.

Experience:

We are therefore looking for a highly experienced worker who:

  • worked with vulnerable adults in the homeless sector
  • knowledge of lone working practices
  • experience working with individuals with complex needs
  • works in a creative and person centred approach
  • has knowledge of the housing and the welfare benefits system
  • and is able to provide examples of how they may of worked with individuals who require support in these areas.

The ideal person would have worked in the sector in a senior role beforehand or at least have considerable years of experiences as a project or floating support worker and therefore is able to take the next step in their career.
