Logistics Business Development Manager

Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Logistics Business Development Manager who has experience in the freight/logistics industry to join a very successful business in Leicestershire that operates in the air, road, rail and sea freight sectors. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity working Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm.

As the Logistics Development Manager, you will report to the Director of Operations and take charge of on-going development of the Warehousing, Transport and Supply Chain functions. You will be responsible for selling your part of the Company's annual business target for the Warehousing & Fulfilment Offering, securing the targeted number of new e-commerce customers.

Within the role you will be directly manage varied teams consisting of Health & Safety, Facilities, Warehousing Planning, Stock Optimisation and Transport Planning. You will act as a key member of senior leadership team working across short, medium and long term company objectives.

You will help to shape their operation through the expansion of e-commerce filtering its way through the company whilst establishing effective working relationships with all areas of the organisation.

The successful candidate will summarise results and compiling presentations for the rest of the business and work cross functionally with teams in commercial, procurement, finance, supply chain and operations.

In the role you will challenge current processes, providing evidence-based analysis and business solutions to the wider organisation. You will also lead projects from start to finish providing a more effective logistics operation in any way appropriate.

The role will cover 3 of the company sites, with you reporting into the Managing Director at their site in Leicestershire, so you will ideally be within a commutable distance of Leicester.

Measures of the role:

  • Sales target of £3m per annum from new Customers.
  • E-Commerce (on-line/internet) orders to increase by 100,000 per annum.
  • Budget costs not to be exceeded.

The successful Logistics BDM will possess the following skills and experiences:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a Business Development Manager role within a 3PL/warehousing & logistics environment.
  • An excellent negotiator with first-class rapport building skills.
  • Previous experience of a Network Development/Project Manager/Operations Support role.
  • Experience of a large scale project in an operational capacity.
  • Holds a Lean Six Sigma qualification or similar (considered as advantageous).
  • Ideally be Prince2 qualified (considered as advantageous).
  • Highly analytical mindset.
  • Very competent with WMS and TMS systems.
  • Very strong man management and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communicator both written and oral.

The package on offer for this excellent Logistics BDM opportunity is £40k-£50k, 27 days annual leave plus 8 Bank Holidays, Final Salary Pension Scheme, plus other additional company benefits.
