IT Operations Manager

Job Description

A forward-thinking fulfilment, e-commerce, distribution, warehousing and storage solutions business has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic IT Operations Manager to join the team in Rutland on a full time, permanent basis.

In essence you will administer the group's IT hardware and network infrastructure, provide 2nd level support to staff/customers/suppliers and manage technical projects ensuring all compliance to deadline. You will work closely with the infrastructure Director to design and develop code, programmes and applications in addition to managing the group's IT staff by recruiting, training and coaching employees regarding expectations and appraising performance.

Responsibilities and Key Skills can be summarised as:

  • Escalating IT issues and concerns to the Infrastructure Director when and where necessary
  • Work with the existing team and take responsibility for the continuation of Cyber Essential compliance
  • To provide and manage professional support, diagnostic and repair service within the team
  • To ensure all support work undertaken is recorded via the company IT ticketing system
  • Produce departmental KPI reports for the Infrastructure Director
  • To work with customers and departments on reporting and integration projects
  • To take an active lead in the roll out of the new group Warehouse Management System
  • Occasional requirement to attend customer sites to assist with technical issues/project work
  • Responsible for managing all system backup processes and drive rotation
  • Managing the setting up and configuring of new PC's and Laptops.
  • Ensuring security and upgrades are applied to all devices
  • Manage Antivirus and security installation to all devices and servers
  • Ensuring all logs for equipment and users are maintained, in compliance with GDPR
  • Maintaining the companies network structure
  • Creating purchase requisitions for IT hardware, software and services
  • Ensuring licensing for all software purchased is recorded and maintained
  • Exchange server mailbox maintenance including archiving mailboxes
  • Manage the setting up of new users and disabling of expired accounts in accordance with HR requirements
  • Implementing safety procedures and data recovery plans
  • Developing user manuals, as well as policies, procedures and safety protocols.
  • Preparing documents, meeting materials and correspondence
  • Performing administrative support duties, as required, to meet specific operational objectives
  • Providing assistance as required to the Director of Infrastructure and Health & Safety
  • Ensuring that a high level of customer service and support is provided at all times
  • When required providing out of hours support

Skills / Background:

  • 5 Years + experience working in IT
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office 365 and Microsoft Server Operating systems
  • VLANs and VPN configuration
  • WMWare / Hyper V
  • Networking - Watchguard technologies
  • Server based client services (DHCP, DNS, NPS)
  • XML Coding (xslt Stylesheets)
  • Crystal Report Writing
  • Programming experience, preferably Python
  • Experience in creating IT and Training documentation
  • Practical experience in installing and maintaining systems
  • Experience in creating GDPR documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
