Housing First Worker - Rough Sleepers Support (Wandsworth)
Job Description
Our client is one of the largest providers of supported accommodation services various clients such as young people, clients with a history of homelessness, mental health or substance misuse issues. They aim to help vulnerable people find opportunities to change their lives and futures.
Position Available: Housing First Worker - Rough Sleepers / Homeless - Wandsworth, £28-30kpa, 37.5 hours per week. 3-4 months ongoing going perm
About the service:
Housing First is a service that provides independent tenancies with registered social landlords via the council nomination process and intensive personalised support to rough sleepers who have not
progressed through any supported accommodation pathway. Accommodation is sourced by Local Authorities for clients who would not typically be deemed as 'housing ready'. By adopting a flexible, creative and personalised approach, Housing First aims to support individuals to manage their tenancies in the community and improve their quality of life.
Role Purpose:
To be responsible for the day to day delivery of the service; managing a small caseload of clients that have complex needs with the overall goal of supporting them to sustain accommodation.
To provide support to clients, tailored to individual needs and aspirations, with clients being able to choose, as far as possible, what, how and when support is delivered.
To deliver motivational and engaging psychosocial interventions to improve symptoms, functioning, quality of life, and social inclusion.
To provide ongoing and intensive support to help your clients set up their home and maintain their tenancy.
You will offer support to help them engage with health and social care services, however this engagement will be optional for clients. Support will be offered in the person's homes as well as in the community.
This role will be required to think differently and implement service innovations by developing and managing positive, collaborative relationships with many partners and stakeholders that will have different perspectives and interests.
This role will be required to create cohesion across the various teams, by demonstrating a strong work ethic and ability to take initiative in proactively resolving issues and creating solutions to meet the needs of the service users.
You will be responsible for managing your own caseload and hours and will require excellent time management skills, a proactive approach to your work and the ability to prioritise.

Experience required:
Essential
- Experience of working with people that are homeless and/or rough sleeping - working on shifts
with outreach teams or tenancy support. Must have a good understanding of the risk management and planning needed when working in an outreach environment.
- Good practical understanding of mental health and substance misuse and the interventions used to engage people with treatment and support.
- Emotional resilience to deal with challenging behaviour and to facilitate ongoing constructive
engagement with clients.
- Experience of assertive engagement with entrenched complex needs, able to work alongside
outreach teams to build positive relationships with clients.
- Experience of multi-agency work, assessment of needs, and delivery of evidence-based
interventions to support and empower people who are experiencing problems with substance
misuse, poor sexual health, unhealthy relationships and hidden harm including unresolved trauma
- A creative, solution-focused approach to overcoming challenges.
- Ability to accurately record service user information, a good understanding of case management
notes and planning.
- An understanding of clinical and therapeutic intervention models and the ability to deliver these on a 1-2-1 basis and monitor using outcome measurements and monitoring tools.
- An understanding of GDPR, client confidentiality and data management.
- Case coordination in a multi-agency setting and building creative relationships with partners, leading on case management of the client on behalf of the company.
- Experience of support planning and risk assessing processes, appropriate to clients with enduring
complex needs.
- Demonstrable understanding of safeguarding, knowledge of legislation and practice.
- Experience of lone working and risk management.
- A commitment to learning and continuous improvement of self and service.
