Job Description

We are recruiting for an experienced Health and Safety Officer to join a leading Leicester manufacturer. Employing over 130 staff and with a turnover in excess of £9 million pounds this is an integral appointment reporting into the Operations Director


£25,000 to £30,000 per annum depending upon experience

Duties include

Ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health.

Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated and the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.

Completion and regular review of all risk assessments e.g. COSHH, Manual handling, Fire etc.

Conduct 5S audits across site.

Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented.

Monitor and development of health & safety policies, systems of work and procedures.

Ensure full and accurate health and safety and training records are maintained.

Health & safety inspections, audits and checks.

Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business.

Provide regular reports to Management Team on relevant health and safety activities.

Deal with environment management documentation and safe practises

Liaise with suppliers i.e. Insurers

Support the operation management team with facility management requirement

Our ideal candidate

Recent and relevant experience in a similar role is essential

COSHH Trained

NEBOSH (General Certificate) qualified or working towards NEBOSH certificate accreditation

Experience carrying out risk assessment in there many forms

Professional approach, coupled with strong interpersonal skills

Basic experience of HR matters would be useful but not essential
