Health and Safety Controller

Job Description

An exciting opportunity arisen for an ambitious professional to implement their experience as a Health and Safety Controller for our client who is a market leading bakery and food company. This is working weekends on a permanent basis in Dunstable.

Our client is expanding their Health and Safety team and have opportunities for day, night and weekend health and safety professionals to join their sites in Dunstable.

You will be providing valuable safety support and as part of the health and safety department ensuring effective management, so that they can successfully discharge their duties ensuring legal compliance.

We are seeking driven Health and Safety professionals who are looking for a long-term career in safety. You must be able to work on your own initiative and in a team. You should have a good working knowledge of safety and ideally qualified to NEBOSH National General Certificate level. You should be computer literate, commercially aware and able to plan, organise and deliver projects.

Key responsibilities:

  • Carry out site inspections, record findings and raise actions.
  • Monitor outstanding actions and ensure they are completed.
  • Identify good practice and ensure it is communicated and adopted throughout all sites.
  • Provide advice, support and guidance on health and safety matters.
  • Liaise with supervisors and managers to ensure continual improvement.
  • Promote and assist in the development of the Integrated Management System (IMS).
  • Conduct and report on audits throughout the sites.
  • Promote a positive safety culture.
  • Produce reports on site safety and health and safety activity.
  • Assist in the development and review of site safety documents, including risk assessments, safe systems of work and procedures.
  • Produce and deliver toolbox talks.
  • Investigate accidents and near misses and report on findings to include recommendations for improvements.
  • Assist with the development of systems and procedures to ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 standards.

The successful candidate will ideally have an understanding of the fundamentals of food production and HACCP controls.

The working hours for this position is 33 hours, working Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Starting at 7am 7pm, however my client may have some flexibility in terms of start times. This can be discussed at interview stage.

Salary for this opportunity is £23,595
