Head of Hospice Services
Location:
Kidderminster, West Midlands
Salary: Salary in the range of £42,000 - £45,000

You will be able to lead Care and Bereavement teams with both hands and to ensure our care and support is fit for the future needs of our local community.

You will be an (adult) registered nurse with a passion for delivering exceptional care and support within end of life care and bereavement, you will be able to demonstrate experience of working in a senior position, leading and inspiring a committed multi-disciplinary team in a care setting. You will be competent in managing change in service delivery and in leading clinical governance processes and quality improvement systems.

As Head of Hospice Services you will:

  • Provide effective leadership to the Care and Bereavement teams at the Hospice, to enable the provision and maintenance of the highest standards of care and support, embedding an ethos of quality improvement
  • As part of our Senior Team, you will provide visible professional and consultative leadership across the organisation, and in particular for the Care and Bereavement teams, to ensure a positive and supporting culture
  • Be focused on quality of care and the improvement of the outcomes and experiences of our patients and clients
  • Represent the hospice and network at local and regional level, positively promoting and sharing our best practice and ensuring that we are involved and up to date with all relevant health and social care developments
  • Efficiently and effectively manage resources and clinical budget
  • Develop and build the professional workforce in line with service needs
  • Ensure compliance with registering bodies, including Care Quality Commission in the role of Registered Manager and other lead roles as set out in this job description
  • Develop, implement and evaluate innovative models of care delivery to meet the changing needs of the people who use our services
  • Work alongside your colleagues in our Senior Team to ensure we achieve our strategic aims
  • Promote and support evidence-based practice and actively encourage research initiatives within the Hospice and externally

You will have:

  • RGN /RN Level 1
  • Experience of working as a manager in a care setting
  • Evidence of CPD and reflection, meeting revalidation requirements
  • Significant experience working in palliative and end of life care
  • Experience of the development and implementation of strategic plans in a care setting
  • Experience of leading clinical governance processes and quality improvement systems
  • Experience of high-level decision making and managing change
  • Experience of clinical audit and benchmarking
  • Experience of work force planning and involvement in developing and training others
  • Ability to develop and implement policies to support best practice
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with a range of audiences
  • Experience of working and liaising with agencies across the health economy
  • Knowledge of the implementation of CQC requirements
  • Able to inspire and lead own team and others across the organisation
  • Experience of managing a budget
  • Experience of producing high quality reports combining qualitative and quantitative information
