Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a high calibre, General Manager to join a world-class transport and logistics organisation on a full time, permanent basis in the Halewood area. In essence you will manage the site ensuring that key business objectives, (focusing around budgetary P&L, quality, H&S, and people management), are achieved. This will extend to strategically developing multi-million pound key accounts, managing stake holders and identifying opportunities for both organic and new commercial growth.

The opportunity would suit a commercially astute, logistics professional who is experienced in just-in- time operations in 1st tier manufacturing, automotive or production environments and who has delivered business transformation using lean techniques and thrives in a time pressured environment.

As an effective man-manager, you will have a genuine passion for people as well as client engagement and the management of such relationships. Whilst a solid operational background will be required, it is essential that you also have a real commercial focus not only from ensuring key budgetary targets are achieved, but also from maximising opportunities with new and existing clients. You will work closely with the business development teams to capitalise on this.

You will definitely need to be an inspiring people person who leads from the front, not only in terms of engaging, motivating, mentoring and developing the talent within your teams, but also in front of your clients; you will have natural charisma with an ability to forge positive business relationships at all levels.

Your communication skills will be second to none, and you will enjoy operating with an open-door policy promoting an open and honest culture within your teams. You will appreciate the importance of being visible by your colleagues. This opportunity would suit a hands-on manager that relishes the chance to be involved in all areas of the business from the bottom up.
