Finance Manager (Financial Planning and Analysis)

South Yorkshire

Our client is an impressive global steel business. They now have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager based at their site in Rotherham.

The Finance Manager (Financial Planning & Analysis) role is to provide Senior Managers with information and analysis for the purpose of decision-making. The role includes the completion of budgets, forecasts, and analysis, including the optimal use of cash. The tracking and reporting of actual performance against plans, and explanation of key drivers behind variances. The development of business processes to enable the completion of these activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creation, maintenance, and update of financial models required to support decision-making
  • Preparation of the annual budget and monthly forecasts
  • Completion of weekly cash forecasts
  • Consolidation of business unit budgets and forecasts
  • Tracking & reporting of actual performance against plans & explanation of variances
  • Evaluation of the Business' future sales opportunities to optimise the use of working capital and return on investment
  • Analysis of product and market sector sales and product cost data, to understand the relative contributions to the Business' historical and future financial performance
  • Work with Commercial, Operational, and Engineering Business Partners to generate profit and working capital improvement plans
  • Financial modelling of longer-term plans and strategy scenarios, including the impact of capital investment opportunities
  • Supervision, and performance management, of the Finance Business Partners

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Graduate with recognised Professional Qualification (Industry or Practice) e.g., CIMA or ACCA. Will consider qualified and part-qualified candidates
  • Understanding of the Business' manufacturing processes and routes
  • Ability to manage and intelligently analyse large volumes of data
  • Financial modelling
  • High level of proficiency with spreadsheets
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Able to communicate with colleagues at all levels in the organisation
  • Can connect the physical activities of the Business to the financial figures
  • Ability to intelligently analyse data and draw out the key points and recommendations
