COVID Recovery Support Officer

Job Description

Working for Sunderland City Council the main responsibilities of the role will be to provide support in the delivery of COVID-19 test, trace and COVID regulation arrangements and also to provide support across the local authority as part of the council's COVID recovery response.

The officer will support local measures to break the chain of COVID transmission. This will include providing support to local testing programmes, supporting track and trace, undertaking COVID marshall duties, and other tasks across the local authority directly linked to COVID recovery.

The safety of the workforce and members of the

public is the foremost priority for all COVID recovery operations. PPE and strict infection control measures will be employed in order to ensure a safe working environment at all times.

Duties will include:

1. To provide support and assistance with the operation of community testing sites.
2. To reach out and support residents who are yet to receive a COVID-19 vaccination.
3. To provide support and assistance to the local test and trace programme
4. Conduct telephone interviews with individuals who have received a positive COVID-19 test result, via structured questions to ascertain contact information
5. Provide follow-up to individuals who have been identified as contacts of confirmed cases of COVID-19, in line with local protocols
6. Escalate and refer any challenging or complex cases, incidents, outbreaks and queries or complaints to Senior Officers
7. To provide support and assistance with the implementation of COVID regulations that help protect the health and wellbeing of Sunderland residents
8. To provide support and assistance to surge and events testing
9. To support the business of the council's COVID recovery plan by working flexibly across the organisation as and when required

Hours of work are broadly based on a 37.5 hour week, over a 7 day rota, and extensive call handling is a key part of the role.
