Job Description

We are looking for cleaner to join our client based in Bridgwater to ensure the factory and offices are cleaned to a high standard.

This role is 12 months temporaty role - maternity cover.

The shift is Monday to Friday 10am - 6pm.

Pay rate is £8.72 per hour.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for efficient and effective cleaning support to the Thermoforming and Extrusion Factory, Offices, Warehouses and External Areas.
  • Ensuring cleaning standards are always maintained in accordance with company standards and BRC approved codes of practise
  • Cleaning must adhere to the prescribed methods and frequencies in line with the requirements of the cleaning schedules and safe working procedures following the receiving of appropriate training and task instruction.
  • Cleaners are always expected to work to A Clean-As-You-Go Policy i.e. (keeping the work area clean and tidy whilst working)
  • Duties may include cleaning up spills, wiping down surfaces, removing waste to bins and keeping the factory, tools and equipment to the required levels of hygiene for producing safe products.
  • Emptying waste bins, transferring waste material to designated collection points
  • Sweeping floors with electrical mechanical sweepers, brushes or V- frame mops
  • Mopping floors with wet or damp mops
  • Use of a steam cleaner to sanitise and clean floors
  • Use of an electronically powered scrubber drier to scrub and dry and floors
  • Use of vacuum cleaners to clean low level floors and walls
  • Keep cleaning equipment in a clean condition
  • Wear appropriate PPE for the task as directed by the H&S Manager
  • Dusting, damp wiping, washing or polishing the furniture, ledges, window sills and external surfaces of cupboards, radiators, shelves and fitments
  • Replenishing consumable items in toilets and factory store cupboards (soap, sanitizing gel, toilet rolls, paper towels, cleaning agents) as and when required
  • Cleaning toilets, urinals, hand wash trough and sinks
  • Using chemical agents as directed by the Quality Manager in the discharge of cleaning operation (after receiving proper instruction and training)
  • Undertake wall vacuuming to a height no greater than the vacuum extension tubes allow from floor level.
  • Check cleaning stock levels and inform the Cleaning Supervisor when low
  • Litter pick external areas and sweep yards with a magnetic sweeper
  • Operate a mechanical compactor to compact general waste as instructed
  • Sign off cleaning records on a daily basis upon completion of cleaning schedules
  • Record Fridge temperatures in kitchens if relevant to the cleaning schedule
  • Operate relevant cleaning equipment safely
  • Maintain tidy and organised work spaces and cleaning store
  • Check equipment / machinery used and ensure H&S guidelines are adhered to at all times
  • Report any defective cleaning equipment to the Cleaning Supervisor
  • Provide cover which may entail working extra hours in times of absence of a cleaning team member
  • Comply with all policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy working environment is maintained.
  • Abide by the company's environmental and quality management procedures.
  • Carry out any reasonable duties we request that are within your abilities, irrespective of grade/skill level.

Key working relationships

The jobholder will work under the supervision of the management but will also be expected to work under their own initiative. Interfaces with Management, Employees, Customers and Suppliers, must represent the company in a professional manner at all times.
