Building Support Assistant
Salary: £18,000-£19,500 (plus retainer when covering out of hours)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Report to: Hard Service Manager
To play an important role in the Hard Facilities Management (HFM) Services team for the accommodation Derwent FM operate on behalf of the University of Gloucestershire, ensuring compliance through good working practice. This is a fast-paced role, to carry out planned and reactive maintenance and requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills as it is a customer-facing role.
To ensure the provision of safe accommodation for the Occupiers in accordance with the University's requirements as set out in the Service Level Agreement (SLA);
To be a member of a team providing direct service on a rota who collectively cover the hours 08:00-18:00 (Monday-Friday). This post will alternate between 08:00 - 17:00 and 09:00 - 18:00 on a weekly basis. There is an expectation to be flexible at times and work the occasional weekend (arrival/departure weekends) or additional hours as cover, for which Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) or overtime will be offered. Out of hours cover (via phone) alternates between operatives for emergency attendance (only), for which a daily retainer is paid in addition to salary regardless of attendance;
To be compliant with all applicable laws, codes of practice and statutory requirements, protecting the health and safety of students, staff and visitors to the facilities;
To support the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) Programme and the Life Cycle Replacement schedule where appropriate, to ensure compliance with the performance requirements and to reflect the Asset Register;
To carry out planned and reactive maintenance to ensure that the facilities are available, safe, functional and comfortable for the Occupiers and a pro-active approach to preventative maintenance/inspections such that breakdowns and failures are minimised;
To report, record and resolve (where possible) maintenance defects within the required timeframe. To understand the key business priorities and performance indicators related to

To assist and lead inductions of contractors when attendance is required

Experience across a broad range of mechanical and electrical building systems.
An understanding of water management processes, including L8 awareness.
Qualified and/or experienced in a specific trade (eg.plumbing and electric)
