Our People

I have been working at Barker Ross in the Industrial Division for 8 years. I started in Feb 1999 as a trainee consultant, not really sure of the career path that I wanted to take. As time progressed, I realised how enjoyable the job was; I particularly enjoyed meeting all the different people from all walks of life.
It’s the only job I have ever had that I have never ‘clock watched’; the time just goes so quickly as you try and get everything done. No day is the same; there is always a new task/issue to deal with and the people you work with make it so enjoyable. Barker Ross contains the most approachable management I have come across; you always receive the required training and guidance that you would expect from a successful organisation. Now, after all these years, I still don’t ‘clock watch’ and I still enjoy working as part of a great team.

"I came from a call centre background where I mainly worked doing market research and appointment setting for sales consultants in the IT industry. I got tired of setting appointments for people to see them reap the rewards from it so I wanted to use the skills I already had and move them on to gain a career. Recruitment had always been of interest to me as I knew it would incorporate the skills I had and would be a new challenge.
I joined Barker Ross in 2002 as a trainee consultant and haven’t looked back since. I have worked on the industrial desk for the whole time I have been with the company and love it as it is so fast paced, no 2 days are the same and it is always a challenge, I am now Branch Manager of our Milton Keynes office and I couldn’t be happier with my role, its challenging, rewarding and enjoyable.
Barker Ross have invested a lot of time, effort and training into my career, I don’t think I would be where I am now had I joined another company who didn’t invest so much time and efforts into their staff. "
Kim Abell"I have been with the company for over 11 years, and for me, that says it all. My current role is Administration Manager, but I started with the company as a part-time Administrator/Receptionist. In my time, I have had a variety of duties, from Administrator, Payroll Administrator and Account Manager. I have been fully supported in all these roles and been given excellent training and support.
I now have the ability to adapt to any role, from client calls to managing an account. My day-to-day duties include team audits, ensuring all working personnel are fully referenced, have the relevant ID and skills, and that all client forms and criteria are met. I feel Barker Ross is successful because, unlike the high street agencies, we are more 'family' than 'corporate'. This gives that personal touch. The incentives are excellent too. So come and be part of the 'family' - it's a great place to work."
