We have been accredited with Gold Standard status following a recent audit against the Committed to Equality (C2E) Standard which focuses on all practices within our organization. This ensures a committed approach towards equal opportunities and the principles of diversity.
We were also nominated by Nottingham Council to participate in this scheme in order to monitor the equality and diversity practices of suppliers. The background to this programme dates from January 2003 when the Prime Minister asked for practical recommendations for organisations and government to work together to make a real difference in issues of racial equality and diversity in the workplace.

REC Audited represents the ‘gold standard’ of REC membership (Recruitment and Employment Confederation). The REC Audited logo demonstrates that an independent firm of auditors has assessed our agency and that we are fully compliant with industry regulations and best practice. This scheme is the most comprehensive audit of its kind, offering official endorsement that agencies conduct their businesses lawfully and ethically.
TLWG Audited
Barker Ross has also been successfully audited by the TLWG (Temporary Labour Working Group). The TLWG - which includes leading retailers Waitrose, Marks & Spencers, Tesco, Somerfield, Sainsburys, Morrisons, the Co-operative Group and Asda, the Fresh Produce Consortium, the Association of Labour Providers, the National Farmers Union, the TUC and the Transport and General Workers Union - developed a Code of Practice in advance of the Gangmasters Licensing Act.amid concerns that levels of exploitation and criminality within the agricultural, horticultural and shellfish gathering industries.
Gangmasters License

The Gangmasters Licensing Act comes into force in October 2006. From that time, it will be illegal for any business supplying contract, temporary and permanent labour to work in agriculture, horticulture, shellfish gathering and associated processing and packaging sectors to supply labour without a Gangmasters License. It will also be an offence for a labour user to engage workers from an unlicensed labour provider from December 2006. The maximum penalty for operating without a license is a 10 year prison sentence and a fine. The maximum penalty for using workers by an unlicensed labour provider is a 51 week prison sentence and a fine.
